Thoughts on Leadership: A Conversation With Our Prefects

26th November 2025

We asked our Junior and Senior Prefects to share their thoughts on leadership. What followed was a warm, thoughtful and often light-hearted conversation that captured what it means to be a leader in our School.

Leadership plays an important role in the life of every pupil here, and we are proud that this was strongly recognised in our recent ISI report. Inspectors highlighted that

“Pupils are encouraged to participate in decision-making and leadership activities. These opportunities foster respect for diverse viewpoints and prepare them well for life in modern British society.”

Our newly elected Junior Prefects are just beginning their leadership journey, and it was wonderful to see them reflect on their responsibilities alongside our experienced Senior Prefects. Roles such as Junior and Senior Prefects, Form Captains, School Council representatives and year-group leaders give pupils real responsibility within our community.

Leadership here is active, genuine, and rooted in everyday school life. Pupils help shape decisions, plan and deliver assemblies, represent their peers, and celebrate the diversity of our community. This video captures the spirit of the pride, the fun, the honesty, and the sense of shared purpose that leadership brings. Our Prefects speak about what leadership means to them, what they hope to achieve, and the small but powerful ways they contribute to school life.

We hope you enjoy watching this special conversation as much as we enjoyed capturing it.
