Scholarships & Bursaries

Broadening access to the School has always been a priority

We want to make St Margaret's accessible to those recognised for outstanding achievement and those who would otherwise be unable to afford our fees.

Scholarships

11+ and 13+ Academic Scholarships are awarded on the basis of success in the entrance examinations and interview. All applicants sitting the entrance assessment of the year of entry are automatically considered.

At Sixth Form level scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement. Awards will be made on the basis of scholarship examinations and an interview, and mock GCSE examination results will also be taken into consideration.

In addition to Academic Scholarships, we also offer a scholarship programme for 11+, 13+ and 16+ entrants in Art, Drama, Music, STEM, DT, Dance and Sport. At 16+ specialist scholarships are also awarded for contribution to the St Margaret's community. The deadline for Year 7 and Year 9 subject-specific scholarship applications for September 2024 is 6 November 2023.

A limited number of scholarships will carry an enhanced level of fee remission.

Further information is provided in the Scholarship & Bursaries Brochure and Policy below, or please do be in touch with the Admissions Team via admissions@stmargarets-school.org.uk  if you have any queries.

Bursaries

A limited number of bursaries are available for potential 11+, 13+ and Sixth Form candidates who perform well in our entrance examination and whose families are in need of financial assistance or for existing pupils where a change in parents’/guardians’ circumstances has resulted in a difficulty in meeting tuition fees and may result in the child being withdrawn partway through a stage of education.

Applications are always means tested and parents are required to complete a confidential statement of income and fixed expenditure and have an interview with the Director of Finance and Operations.

The closing date for Bursary Applications for September 2024 entry is 30 November 2023.

Further information is provided in the Scholarship & Bursaries Brochure and Policy below or please do be in touch with the Finance Team via finance@stmargarets-school.org.uk if you have any queries.
