Senior School Sports Awards: Celebrating a Remarkable Year in Sport

26th June 2026

There was a real sense of pride and celebration at St Margaret’s on Monday 15 June as pupils, parents and staff came together for our very first Senior School Sports Awards Evening, alongside special guest and Olympic gold medallist Hollie Pearne-Webb MBE.

The evening was an opportunity to reflect on an exceptional year of sport, celebrating not only pupil achievements, but also the commitment, resilience and teamwork that define our sporting community. Hollie’s inspiring story of perseverance and success gave pupils and parents a valuable insight into what it takes to perform at the highest level, setting the tone for an evening dedicated to ambition, growth and excellence.

From first-time fixtures to county-level performances, the event showcased both the breadth of opportunity available to pupils and the remarkable growth of sport at St Margaret’s.

Opening the evening, Director of Sport Jack Baird reflected on the School’s progress:

“ What we are seeing now is not just growth; it is real momentum across every part of our programme.”

That momentum is clear to see. In just two years, Senior School sports selections have more than doubled, rising from 563 to over 1,200 across football, cricket, netball, rugby, swimming and athletics.

Pupils took to the stage throughout the evening to share reflections on the season, celebrating standout successes including an unbeaten U12A Netball season, four swimming teams reaching County Finals for the first time, expanding cricket provision and athletics participation growing fivefold in five years.

These achievements have been strengthened by partnerships with London Mavericks, Watford Swimming Club and Harrow St Mary’s Cricket Club, giving pupils access to specialist coaching and performance pathways beyond school.

Alongside team and individual awards, four pupils received Elite Sport Recognition for achievements beyond school sport: Adam A (bronze at the British Schools Judo Championships), Nate C (ranked in the UK’s top 24 U14 fencers), Thomas C (Saracens Developing Player Pathway and Hertfordshire representative), and Mirabelle O (selected for Watford Ladies FC at the UK’s largest youth football tournament).

The evening also celebrated Ridhi M as HPP Athlete of the Year, while the U12A Netball Squad took home Team of the Year after an outstanding season.

As the School looks ahead, one thing is clear: the future of St Margaret’s sport has never looked brighter.
