Lazy Days of Lockdown

12th May 2021

The Lazy Sloth was born during lockdown, out of a love of sloths and an ambition to bring the joy of a sloth to the local community.

Eliz, aged just 9, and her brother Huseyin, aged 12, are the brains behind a brand new clothing company that took a passion they shared and turned it into a commercial venture.

Taking over their spare room as The Lazy Sloth headquarters, Huseyin and Eliz are already learning about bulk buying, profit margins and cashflow. They are excited to see the company take shape, saying “It has been a journey, once we saw the logo, we thought ‘we can do this’.”

The company has already expanded from T-shirts and hoodies, to include bags, caps and mugs, and there are plans to take it further in the future, with the possible addition of other animals - Eliz confirmed though “they just need to be lazy animals.”

And not only have Eliz and Huseyin adopted their very own Costa Rican sloth, but 10% of all sales go to the NSPCC and sloth-related charities.

“This was all about the sloths, so we have to give back to them too”

From an idea that was based on creating a little happiness during lockdown, two bright entrepreneurs are learning all about economies of scale, profit and loss and how the customer is always right and are excited to see where this might take them, saying “It’s new, but we are going to get there!”
