Kindness Takes Centre Stage: Come From Away

15th December 2025

From the first notes to the final curtain, our Senior School production of Come From Away shone as a celebration of community, empathy and the spirit of togetherness that lies at the heart of our school.

Based on real events following 9/11, Come From Away tells the remarkable true story of how the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, opened its doors, and its hearts, to thousands of unexpected visitors when transatlantic flights were grounded. What unfolds is not a tale of tragedy, but one of humanity: strangers becoming friends, fear giving way to generosity, and ordinary people discovering extraordinary reserves of compassion.

These themes sit at the heart of life at our school and were beautifully reflected throughout the production. Our commitment to inclusion, respect and understanding is something our pupils live every day, and it is a strength recognised in our most recent ISI report, which notes that “Pupils demonstrate empathy, tolerance and an understanding of difference, reflecting the community's commitment to equality, cultural diversity and respect for people who are different from themselves.” On stage, this ethos came to life as pupils explored stories of welcome, belonging and shared humanity.

We invite you to explore the gallery and settle in as Come From Away unfolds once more; a powerful story of welcome, understanding and human connection.
