Behind the Magic: The Making of Aladdin JR.
9th July 2026
Last night, our Year 6 pupils took to the stage for Aladdin JR., transporting audiences to the bustling streets of Agrabah for an evening of adventure, laughter and unforgettable songs. While the audience experienced the magic of the finished production, the performance was the culmination of weeks of rehearsals, costume fittings, choreography and character development, with every pupil growing in confidence along the way.
For the first time, St Margaret's was granted the rights to capture that journey on film, and our behind-the-scenes video and photo gallery offer a rare glimpse into the creativity, collaboration and commitment that brought Aladdin JR. to life.
Over the past several weeks, our Year 6 pupils have learnt far more than lines and choreography. They have built confidence, developed their performance skills and discovered the value of teamwork, supporting one another through every rehearsal as the production gradually came together.
School productions are about much more than the final performance. They encourage pupils to communicate, collaborate and step outside their comfort zones, showing that every contribution—whether a leading role or part of the ensemble—is essential to bringing a story to life.
For many pupils, Aladdin JR. is their first experience of performing in a full-scale musical before moving into Senior School, making it an important milestone in their creative journey.
As you watch the video and explore the gallery below, we hope you'll enjoy seeing not only the performance, but also the friendships, determination and shared moments that made it possible. Because while the curtain rises for just one evening, the real magic has been happening for weeks.
