For the Class of 2026, there is plenty to celebrate.

61% of all grades were awarded at A*–B, with 16 students achieving a clean sweep of A*–B grades. Most of our students have already secured places at their first-choice university, with further destinations expected to be confirmed over the coming days.

But the most interesting part of the day is not contained in those statistics. It is found in the destinations students have secured, the subjects they have chosen and the ambitions that sit behind them. From Medicine and Law to Politics, Geography, Engineering, Music and Film, the next chapter for this year group is taking them in many different directions.

Roma is heading to the University of Manchester to study Law, while Sharly has been offered a place to study Medicine at Anglia Ruskin University. At UCL, Tiarna will study Politics and International Relations and Radhika will combine her interests in languages and the ancient world through Spanish and Latin. Elsewhere, students are heading into fields ranging from Biomedical Sciences and Engineering to Geography, Primary Education, Dance Science, Film and Television Production and Music, with destinations including King’s College London, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Roehampton, the University of Hertfordshire and Durham University.

And these are just some of the many different paths being taken by the Class of 2026.

What happens next matters most

A-Level results are an important milestone, but they are not an endpoint. They are a springboard into new experiences, new challenges and, often, opportunities that students could not have imagined when they first joined the Sixth Form.

For some, the grades achieved today have opened the door to a university place they have worked towards for years. For others, results have helped reveal a different route or confirmed that their strengths lie elsewhere. Some will continue into higher education, while others will begin apprenticeships, employment or another form of further study. That variety is something worth celebrating.

The Class of 2026 has spent the last two years developing not only their academic knowledge, but the independence, confidence and resilience needed to take their next steps. Behind today's results are countless decisions, setbacks, breakthroughs and moments when students have had to keep going.

Those are the achievements that cannot be captured in a grade boundary.

So, while today marks the end of one chapter, it is also the beginning of many very different stories. We are proud of the results our students have achieved, but even more excited to see what they choose to do with them.
