A Christmas Carol : A Ghost Story Adapted by Mark Gatiss
20th December 2022
It was dark and chilling, but for three nights just before the end of term, our school hall was transformed into the backdrop for Mark Gatiss' adaptation of A Christmas Carol.
Each year pupils across every year group of St Margaret's Senior School have an opportunity to be involved in a large-scale dramatic production, whether on stage or behind the scenes taking care of costumes, props, the set or front of house on each performance night. From Souled to Oliver, Tonight at 8.30 and this year, A Christmas Carol, it is always a spectacle and the highlight of the term as we start the countdown to Christmas.
“This powerful tale of life, love, loss and redemption is as relevant today as when it was first published nearly 200 years ago”
Filled with spine-tingling special effects, audiences were frightened and delighted in equal measure as they entered the supernatural Victorian world of A Christmas Carol. It’s a cold Christmas Eve and mean-spirited miser Ebenezer Scrooge (Gabby) has an unexpected visit from the spirit of his former business partner Jacob Marley (Kezzy). The unearthly figure explains it isn’t too late for Scrooge to change his miserly ways, but first he’ll have to face three more eerie encounters…
Congratulations to the cast and crew that created three memorable nights for our community - we are already looking forward to next year!
