St Margarets School Story Groundsman2

Our People : Mark Field, Grounds Manager

8th April 2021

Keeping our spectacular grounds looking immaculate is no easy feat, however, our dedicated team of groundsmen take great pride when it comes to St Margaret's.

Our Grounds Manager, Mark Field, has been at St Margaret’s for two years and his main responsibilities include looking after the gardens, the turf, sports fields and carrying out the landscaping. With 20 years of experience, Mark has both expertise to draw on and passion for maintaining grounds, in particular, the sporting pitches.

“I actually grew up on a dairy farm in Australia so I have always been outside working in the open,” he explains.

He likes working at St Margaret’s and feels that “there is a lot to do” as “every single day is busy.” Mark is really proud of the fact that the “football pitches are finally up to scratch and looking great.”

With his experience of having worked on the grounds at Lord’s and the Oval, there is no doubt that he will continue to keep our grounds looking impeccable.

“Gardening in the UK is nicer as nothing wants to kill you - no crocs in the pond!”
