Enrichment Fair 2025: Stretching Minds, Inspiring Passions
2nd October 2025
We believe education is about far more than lessons in the classroom. Our co-curricular and enrichment programme is a cornerstone of our offer, designed to stretch, challenge and inspire pupils while supporting their wellbeing and sense of community.
This term, we were delighted to showcase the breadth of our opportunities at our annual Enrichment and Co-Curricular Fair. With over one hundred activities now available, there is truly something for every pupil—from sport and the arts to academic societies, wellbeing activities and pupil-led clubs.
Enrichment That Supports Academic Success
Enrichment at St Margaret’s is woven into the fabric of school life, complementing our ambitious curriculum and supporting our pupils’ academic journey, wellbeing and personal development. Research—and our own experience—consistently shows that students who immerse themselves in co-curricular activities, not only excel academically, but also enjoy greater mental and physical wellbeing.
Opportunities such as GCSE Astronomy, Additional Maths, debating, Olympiads and Model UN not only strengthen subject knowledge but also develop critical thinking, independence and confidence—skills that directly translate into academic progress. As Mrs Homer, Assistant Head Co-Curricular, explains:
“Our enrichment is positioned to complement our very modern and ambitious curriculum. We are aiming to stretch and support all our students—developing creativity, encouraging curiosity, and ensuring every pupil has a chance to shine”
Building Confidence, Creativity and Connection
For many pupils, enrichment is where passions are discovered, and friendships are formed. Year 10 pupil, Olive, shared:
“I’m really excited to join the play this year—I’ve wanted to be in it for a while, and I’m really lucky that I got in. It’s such a great confidence boost performing in front of a big hall, and you meet friends across different year groups too”
Whether performing on stage, playing in the orchestra, joining a club such as Dungeons & Dragons or Philosophy Society, or taking part in public speaking competitions, pupils build confidence and discover new ways to express themselves. Our younger pupils enjoy the chance to experiment and try something new each week—from Lego Club and Speed Maths, to swimming, dance, yoga and sketch club—planting the seeds of interests that often grow into lifelong passions.
A Strong Focus on Sport and Wellbeing
Sport and physical activity form an important part of our enrichment programme, contributing both to physical health and mental wellbeing. This year we are thrilled to introduce new options such as golf and mountain biking alongside our extensive fixture programme in football, hockey, netball, athletics, swimming and more. Balance is equally important, which is why we also offer mindfulness colouring, yoga and meditation clubs, ensuring pupils have space to relax, recharge and build healthy habits for life. Destiny, who is new to Year 7 shared:
“I want to try the mindfulness colouring club so I can relax my brain and control my emotions—and get better at colouring too ”
Pupil Leadership and Voice
We are especially proud of the way enrichment at St Margaret’s evolves with pupil voice. Many clubs and initiatives are created at the request of pupils themselves, from launching a new art magazine to establishing a popular Dungeons & Dragons society. Older pupils regularly take on leadership roles, mentoring younger peers and gaining valuable organisational and leadership experience.
A Lifelong Investment
Enrichment at St Margaret’s is more than a timetable of activities; it is a commitment to the whole child. It develops skills and interests that remain with students for life, helping them to grow into confident, well-rounded individuals ready to thrive at university, in careers, and beyond. We warmly encourage parents to speak with their child about the clubs and activities available this year. Whether trying something entirely new or pursuing a long-held passion, every pupil stands to gain from the extraordinary breadth of enrichment at St Margaret’s.
