Honouring The Arts: The Radlett Expressive Arts Showcase

1st July 2025

On Friday 20 June, The Radlett Centre came alive with music, movement, and theatrical flair as St Margaret’s School proudly presented the second annual Radlett Expressive Arts Showcase. Bigger, bolder, and more brilliant than ever, the evening was a celebration of our pupils’ incredible creativity and dedication across music, dance, drama, and art.

This year’s showcase built on the success of our debut event in 2024, offering a dynamic programme that truly reflected the breadth and talent of our expressive arts community. Audiences were treated to a vibrant range of performances, including iconic musical numbers, contemporary dance pieces, classical works, dramatic monologues, and ensemble showcases.

The evening opened with the energy and colour of Spice Up Your Life, setting the tone for what was to come. Musical highlights included Canon in D performed by the String Ensemble, a powerful vocal medley by the Decibels and soulful interpretations of Fly Me to the Moon and And So It Goes. The Jazz Band brought rhythm and flair with Superstition, while the Elite Vocal Ensemble offered stirring performances of Ubi Caritas and Deep River.

Dance featured prominently throughout the evening, with captivating pieces from both the Junior and Senior Dance Companies. Audiences were wowed by original A-Level choreography and bold group performances including Little Black Rooster and Mambo, choreographed by Miss Dolan.

Drama scholars brought Shakespeare to the stage with a powerful excerpt from Macbeth, while other moments of theatrical brilliance included contemporary sketches and ensemble acting platforms across multiple year groups, such as Jurassic Park and Titanic.

Art displays showcased throughout the venue added a visual layer to the celebration, capturing the creativity of pupils across all key stages. From fine art to mixed media, the pieces reflected thoughtful engagement, technical skill, and a deep appreciation for self-expression.

This exceptional evening also marks the beginning of our much-anticipated Arts Week, where pupils explore their creativity through a variety of workshops, performances, and collaborative projects running all week long. These opportunities not only develop artistic skills, but also nurture confidence, resilience, and teamwork — qualities we value highly across our curriculum.

The success of this year’s Radlett Expressive Arts Showcase is a true testament to the talent, passion, and hard work of our pupils and staff. With such a high bar now set, we’re already looking forward to seeing how we’ll top it next year!
