Celebrating Pupil Progress: Prizegiving 2025

26th September 2025

This year’s Junior and Senior School prizegiving ceremonies have been a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the progress, talents, and achievements of our pupils. At St Margaret’s, prizegiving is not only about recognising academic success, but also about celebrating the breadth of pupil contributions that make our community flourish.

Head, Lara Péchard, reminded us that the pupils who throw themselves wholeheartedly into school life—whether through sport, music, drama, service, or leadership—are so often the ones who achieve the strongest results in public examinations.

“It is no surprise that the children that are all in, those who contribute widely in and out of school, are those that have done well in their public exams. The children that throw themselves into those co-curricular clubs are the high performers. They are the children that achieve at GCSE, and they are the children that achieve at A-Level”

Purposeful, happy pupils perform better, and it is clear that engagement beyond the classroom strengthens both academic outcomes and personal growth.

Head of the Junior School, Emma Gray, echoed this theme by celebrating not just the prize-winners but the collective effort of every child in shaping the life of the School. ‘Prize Day is a reminder of the wonderful opportunities that happen when we all work together. It is together that we grow, learn, and make our School the happy and thriving community it is today,' she shared.

This year’s guest speaker, endurance swimmer and Luna Foundation founder Anna Wardley, left pupils with three important reflections:

“Focus on what you can control in life… set your bar high… and be kind to yourself.”

We are immensely proud of our pupils—their achievements, their service, and their spirit. To our families, thank you for your encouragement and support. To our staff, thank you for your dedication to shaping pupil outcomes of all kinds.

Prizegiving is a reminder that at St Margaret’s there are no cookie-cutters, only unique individuals who contribute to a thriving, supportive community. Together, we celebrate not just what has been achieved, but the exciting future ahead.
