A-Level Results Day 2025: Beyond the Grades

18th August 2025

From the classroom to the stage, the sports field to the debating chamber, this year’s A-Level cohort have embraced every opportunity, reminding us that extraordinary academic achievement comes from curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to give your all in every corner of school life.

The A-Level results of 2025 stand as a testament not only to academic ability but also to the breadth of opportunity embraced by our students. With 14% of all grades awarded at A*, 63% at A*–B, and ten students securing a full sweep of A* and A grades, the statistics alone are impressive. Even more remarkable, 80% of the year group have already secured their first-choice university place, with 58% being offered a place in a top Russell Group university. *

But numbers alone don’t capture the true story of this year group. Behind every grade is a journey of dedication, resilience, and, perhaps most importantly, balance. Time and again, it is those pupils who threw themselves wholeheartedly into school life—embracing music, drama, sport, leadership, and service alongside their studies—who have achieved the most impressive results. These students show us that when young people find joy and purpose in co-curricular pursuits, it fuels their academic success.

From Year 7 to Year 13, twins Gracie and Elenie have embodied this spirit. Not only have they excelled academically, achieving a full sweep of A* and A grades, but they have also made a remarkable impact beyond the classroom. As prefects and scholars, they have shown leadership and responsibility; as participants in the High Performance Programme (HPP), they have consistently challenged themselves; and on the netball court, they have represented St Margaret’s at regional and national competitions, whilst also playing for the prestigious Mavericks PDP netball squad. Elenie has secured a place at the University of Exeter to study Sports Medicine, while Head Girl Gracie will take her talents to Loughborough University to study Sports and Exercise Science. Their dedication, teamwork, and resilience both on and off the court are a testament to the holistic approach that has shaped their academic success.

Lili’s journey is another shining example of engagement across multiple spheres. Lili has been a member of the St Margaret’s community for her entire school life, embracing every opportunity, from debating in the Model United Nations to singing in the Decibels, and even receiving a highly commended award for her National Theatre New Views playwriting script. Her outstanding A-Level results of A*AA in English Literature, History, and Latin have earned her a coveted place at Clare College, Cambridge University to study History – a fitting reward for her years of curiosity, creativity, and commitment to learning in all its forms.

We are also thrilled that some of our Year 13 leavers will continue to inspire at St Margaret’s during gap years. Academic Scholar, talented singer and winner of the prestigious Literature Prize in the Minds Underground essay competition, Anaya, achieved outstanding A-Level grades in English Literature, History and Latin and will be supporting our Creative Arts and Drama departments before continuing her studies in English Literature. Gabriella, a Sports Scholar, footballer and passionate advocate for student wellbeing, will support the PE department while playing football for Crystal Palace, before pursuing Sport & Exercise Science at Loughborough University. Both students have left an indelible mark on school life and will continue to inspire the next generation.

Some stars shine quietly but powerfully. Isabel, a gifted academic scholar and talented writer, approaches every challenge with humility, kindness, and grace. Her poem Roots placed her in the top 5% of over 1,700 entries in the prestigious Christopher Tower Poetry Competition — a true testament to her exceptional creativity and craft. With outstanding A-Level results in English Literature, History and French, Isabel has accepted a place to study Creative Writing and English Literature at Warwick, an exciting next step in her literary journey. Likewise, dedicated Art Scholar

Eliza has been busy making her mark in her own way – from her stunning Fine Art portfolio to her contributions in Decibels and the U18A netball squad. Her A*AA in Fine Art, History, and Biology will take her to Loughborough University to continue her studies in Fine Art. Both Isabel and Eliza demonstrate that sustained, consistent effort and engagement across multiple pursuits leads to meaningful achievement. These highlights represent just a selection of the cohort’s many successes.

Several students are taking alternative paths, including Tsala who is currently awaiting her placement in a Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship to pursue a career as a detective; and Sophia whose talent for dance and drama has secured her a place at Performer’s College in Manchester, one of the UK’s leading performing arts universities, demonstrating that success does not follow a single route.

Whether through university, vocational pathways, or extraordinary personal achievements, the Class of 2025 has proven that commitment, resilience, and passion open doors to a wide range of futures. This year’s A-Level results are more than numbers on a page – they are the culmination of years of hard work, curiosity, teamwork, and wholehearted engagement in life beyond the classroom. To our Year 13 cohort - you’ve made your mark on St Margaret’s – and we can’t wait to see the impact you will make on the world.
